EMA Emergency Notification System

Muskingum County will soon have a new emergency 9-1-1 notification system.

Agencies from Muskingum and surrounding counties met at the Emergency Management Agency to hear about an enhanced 9-1-1 system called EverBridge. The system uses the 9-1-1 database to put an emergency message out to the public.

"We're showing it now to our villages, townships, commissioners and we have three or four other counties coming in today also because they're looking and we can actually join the mapping to where if we needed to send a notification down to part of Perry County or Licking or whatever with this system we can do that," said Emergency Management Agency Director Bo Keck.

EverBridge can be updated by any county agency. Anyone with a landline phone is ready to receive the notifications, but there are other options available.

"With the new system we'll be announcing a public log-in where you can go into our website and actually log-in and put your cell phone or your e-mail address for public and which notifications you want," said Keck.

Keck expects it will take about 30 days to get the system up and running.
