Burned Woman Found Alive On State Route 208

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is trying to figure out how a woman ended up in the middle of the road.

Captain Jeff LeCocq says around 8:30 this morning a man driving on state route 208 saw an object in the road near the intersection of Keyes road in Adamsville. When the man stopped to investigate, he found a woman who appeared to have severe burn injuries. MedFlight transported the woman to Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.

"The helicopter has cleared the scene at this time so what we're doing is using officers on all terrain vehicles to search this area," said Captain LeCocq about the investigation.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the State Highway Patrol and the Dresden Fire Department assisted at the scene. A K9 unit is also searching for evidence. The investigation is ongoing, and no other details are being released at this time. The sheriff's office has scheduled a press conference tomorrow morning.
