Authorities have made an arrest in the death of a Canton woman found beaten and burned in the middle of a rural Muskingum County road.
Sheriff Matt Lutz said charges of aggravated murder, kidnapping and aggravated arson were filed against 20-year-old Katrina Marie Culberson of Canton. A driver found 29-year-year-old Celeste Fronsman early Sunday near Keyes and Steel Hill Road. Lutz said Fronsman had been burned and possibly raped. She died Tuesday at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
"She did have an outstanding felony warrant out of the Canton area," said Lutz. "She was interviewed by our investigators here, and after charges were filed today, we are making arrangements to get her transported back to the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office jail."
Lutz said his office is still looking into more persons of interest, and deputies will continue to work with the Stark County Sheriff's Office and the Canton Police Department.
"This is a sad case because of the way that she passed," said Lutz. "We are by no means satisfied or happy. We have a job to do from getting someone arrested to getting them prosecuted."
The Franklin County Coroner ruled the death a homicide but says it'll be four to six weeks before the exact cause of death can be determined because of how badly she was burned.
