After their son Graham was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when he was six weeks old, Dathan Sowers and his wife Amanda began his chemo therapy treatments. After ten rounds, Graham was cancer free, but unfortunately, he didn't stay that way.
His cancer returned seven months later, and the difficult treatment process has started all over again for the family, but they're not alone in this battle. Supporters held a 5K race at Vista Golf Course Saturday.
"We have such great support from my family and my parents, Amanda's family and her parents and obviously the community and everyone has been so helpful it's really made things easy," said Dathan.
A poker run at Bogey's Bar and Grill followed the race. Last year $15,000 was raised for the Sower's family. The support helps incredibly while the family waits to see if the chemo will work again.
"We will be doing scans here in about a month, they usually do treatments first before they scan again so we're hoping when we get the next scans we see a decrease in the cancer, so, to be continued."
