The Zanesville Jaycees and WHIZ Media Group came together Saturday for the Jaycee's annual C-Day.
WHIZ's AC Carter put the word out over our Z92 radio station, while Jaycees answered phone calls and picked up items to donate to the Salvation Army this holiday season.
"Our economy is very poor right now, there are several people who need the help, they're out of jobs, and so it's important for us to try to give back to the community." said Jaycee Ben Whitacre. "Help those people who are in need by providing them with items of everyday use."
Whitacre says the event has transformed over the years.
"It used to be called canister day, where the Jaycees in conjunction with WHIZ Media Group would go out and collect cans and donate the canned food to those people in need." explained Whitacre. "Over the years it's just kind of evolved into where we get more than cans, we're getting clothing items, we're getting toys, so we turned it into C-Day for just kind of a nickname."
Once the items make it to the Salvation Army they will be distributed to those in need.
