Veterans Day is a time to remember, honor, and cherish our military heroes, and Zanesville was no exception in paying respect.
The Veterans Day parade began at 10 a.m. in downtown Zanesville Saturday. Local bands, scout troops, and many others took part in the annual event, which pays homage to all those who have served our country.
"We came into the military to serve our country, but when we have folks come out like this and say thank you it means everything to us, and that's just great because our soldiers and our airmen and our seamen, they all wish to be a part of that." said General Mike McHenry, Division Commander for the 38th Infantry Division.
McHenry says it's great to see members of the county line the streets, and hopes they walk away knowing their support is appreciated.
"Never forget the ones who have paid the ultimate sacrifice." he said. "Always keep them in your thoughts and prayers, and their families."
Following the parade, a ceremony was held at the courthouse to further honor all branches of the military.
