An organ and hand bell recital was held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Zanesville Sunday afternoon. It's been about four years since organist Mary Ellen Strahm has done a recital. After being asked about a year ago, she began preparing herself for tonight's show.
"It's taken that long to get everything learned and polished, and so on and so forth." she said.
While much effort goes into learning the pieces played on the organ, the hand bell choir also spent months preparing for he recital. Strahm also takes part in the choir and says she's grateful to have such a passion for music.
"It takes me away to another place." explained Strahm. "It just makes me very, very happy. I'm just very appreciative that I have a certain amount of talent that I can show to other people."
The last song played was Amazing Grace, and the crowd gave a standing ovation at the end of the show.
