The Muskingum County Library system receives good news on funding.
The Library Board of Trustees reviewed and approved temporary budget appropriations for 2013. This comes as a pleasant surprise for the library as state funding has slowly decreased over the years.
"As most libraries in Ohio have shown decreases we feel like we're being much more efficient and effective. We are stream-lining program delivery and looking very carefully at what customers use, borrow and request," said John McIntire Library Assistant Director, Blair Tom.
The board has chosen to allocate the funding on different aspects in the library system such as downloadable media, online databases and books that are no longer available on paper.
"The board did support and encourage more investment in digital and downloadable database kinds of resources," said Tom.
State funding will cover the budget for the next six months and then the local funding will kick in and cover the new increases for 2013.
