Quilts Come to the Library

Entries from a nationwide quilt challenge have arrived in Zanesville.

Now until the end of December, twelve quilts from the Hoffman Quilt Challenge will be on display in the Carnegie Wing at John McIntire Library. The collection of quilts are the top chosen entries of the challenge which began in 1988.

"A piece of fabric is selected and then quilters need to incorporate that specific fabric into their design and the interesting thing is to see the different ways they interpret the fabric and the different quilting techniques. Children enjoy just going around and finding the fabric in each individual quilt," said John McIntire Library Assistant Director, Blair Tom.

But you don't have to be a quilter or even a fan of quilting to appreciate the handiwork.

"The designs are really interesting. What's interesting to me is to hear quilters discuss them because they talk about the stitches and the way it's pieced and the different techniques so those that quilt really are specific in their discussion of them and many people just enjoy the design and the beauty of them like art," said Tom.

The exhibit is open free of charge to the public Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
