Pets Find Families During Open House

'Tis the season to welcome a furry friend into your family.

On Saturday the animal shelter in Muskingum County hosted its Christmas Open House.  Board President Stephanie Hill said there's no better time to open your home to a dog or cat in need.

"A lot of kids like to come in and they can start working on their parents and making suggestions for the dog or cat that they would like to have for Christmas," said Hill.

The shelter is full to capacity right now so every adoption helps free up space for abandoned pets.  We Lov Pets and Invisible Fence sponsored half price adoptions for the first 12 animals.

"We're a non-profit, so all of the adoption fees go right back into caring for all of the animals that we house," said Hill.  "Everything comes right back to the shelter, and we use it to take care of the animals that continue to come in."

Be sure to visit the giving tree in the shelter lobby and choose a wish list item.  It's as easy as taking a tag off the tree and making a wish come true.
