A man is facing charges in connection with a domestic dispute that forced New Lexington City Schools to go on lockdown Tuesday.

The New Lexington Police Department says Austin Brooks was arrested around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Roseville area with the assistance of the Muskingum and Perry County Sheriff's Office.

Brooks has been charged with domestic violence, aggravated menacing and inducing panic.

Police say around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man filed a report against his grandson for assault and making verbal threats. The incident took place in the 700 block of Center Street in New Lexington.

Police were concerned that the suspect had access to firearms which is what prompted the lockdown at New Lexington City Schools.

Brooks is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Perry County Court.

He is being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.
