A local family is in financial need to help put a loved one to rest and is reaching out to the community for donations.
Terence Degarmo, tragically and suddenly passed away on December 26th. He was only 23 years old and leaves behind a young daughter, family and friends.
Adam Negash, Degarmo's brother said, "Anybody that knew Terence knew he was a fun loving guy. He would make anybody smile and he was good at hiding his problems as well and he would just make you feel good. He would do anything for you, he would give you his last dollar out of his pocket to make you happy and everybody has a lot of memories. "
To help pay the cost for proper burials and funeral services, Degarmo's family had an event this evening to raise money through a raffle and dinner. Family and friends provided home made crafts, sports jerseys and even went to local businesses for donations in the form of gift cards.
"We have a fundraiser down here at Hoppy's at 553 Putnam Ave. We are just doing a raffle and a dinner for my brother. We are just collecting so we can give him a proper burial because we do not have any means of any kind of funding or anything like that, so there have been a lot of people coming out and helping us with that, "Negash said.
Negash says he is overwhelmed with everyone's love and support and any donation will be helpful. The family hopes to lay Degarmo to rest early next week. Anyone who wishes to donate can make donations at any Community Bank under "The Terence Degarmo Memorial Fund".
