One person is dead after an accident on State Route 93 south of New Lexington.
The Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol said it happened just after 5 p.m. on Monday. A Buick LeSabre was traveling southbound on State Route 93 when it went left of center and struck a Chevy Impala in the northbound lanes.
The head-on collision claimed the life of 41-year-old Gary Vore of Jacksonville, Ohio. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Perry County Coroner Brad Wilson.
67-year-old Linda Spangler of Corning was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by MedFlight and was listed in critical condition. 67-year-old Robert Spangler of Corning was also flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center with critical injuries. 24-year-old Jeremy Cox of Athens was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, where he was listed in stable condition. 18-year-old Kyle Wright of New Straitsville was taken to Hocking Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
The Patrol said it's unclear why the driver went left of center, and the accident remains under investigation. The Shawnee, New Lexington and Junction City Fire Departments also responded to the call.
