Eastside Community Ministries are gearing up for their annual Prom Dress Giveaway. This is the fourth year for the event to benefit girls who may struggle to afford costly proms.
"We got the idea several years ago, that there were an awful lot of girls who, for whom the prom is a huge expense and that if we could arrange for some people who had dresses left over to donate those dresses it would be a benefit to everybody," Sally Goins
Program Committee Chairman said.
The give away is a free event and will be held on Sunday March 3rd at the Welcome Center from 1 PM to 5 PM and is open to the public for any girl headed to the prom. According to Goins, everyone involved has a great time.
"The feedback is fabulous, everybody who volunteers for this program and we have lots of women who come to volunteer to help girls try dresses on and see whether they might need an alteration or something like that, everybody says its one of the most fun things you get to do all year because everyone is just so excited and happy. "
There will also be door prizes, refreshments and music. If you wish to donate a dress you can drop it off at Eastside Community Ministries or call them to arrange a convenient place.
