Gas Station Robbery

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is investigating a gas station robbery that occurred early Friday on Maysville Pike.

Sheriff Matt Lutz says it happened at the Duke-BP around 1:15 a.m. Lutz says the suspect is described as a white male with thin build. He was wearing a navy blue hoodie and dark pants. The man pulled-out a knife and demanded money from the clerk before fleeing the scene.

"The individual did leave on foot out of the store and we're unsure of a vehicle yet we are following up on a couple leads to that but at this point it is still under investigation," said Sheriff Lutz.

The sheriff's department is asking the public for help with the investigation since it happened early in the morning and there were not many witnesses at the gas station during that time.

"If there's anybody that would have been in that area at that time, would have seen a vehicle leaving the store at a high rate of speed or just saw a vehicle leaving as I say a lot to our citizens, sometimes they're our best eyes and ears."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office at (740) 452-3637
