A husband and wife team work to change the community in which we live.
At the Community Foundation's Annual Groundhog Day Celebration, Dan and Karen Vincent will receive the Brian T. Wagner Community Leadership Award.
The honor goes to individuals who have contributed to the betterment of the county through volunteering.
The Vincents both serve on the United Way Board. Karen also is involved in work with the Salvation Army and the Carr Center Cake Auction. Dan is on the nursing advisory boards for Ohio University-Zanesville and Mid-East.
"We were raised in families that were very involved in communities and their school district and were always very giving and wanting to give back," said Karen Vincent. "I think we saw the impact that has on people and we just want to make this area a great place to live."
During the Community Foundation's Groundhog Day Celebration the Vincents will be recognized on a plaque permanently displayed in the atrium of the Community Foundation Office. Their favorite non profit organization will receive a $1,000 grant. The organization remains secret for now.
"We've decided on an organization that is here and local," explained Dan Vincent. "It will touch potentially everyone's life here in the community which is kind of hard to do. We are going to hold off until Saturday night to announce that non profit's name."
The award will be presented at 6:30 p.m. at the Zane State College/Ohio University Zanesville Campus Center by nominator Ryan Moyer.
