For those who have ever wanted to volunteer at the Animal Shelter in Muskingum County, now is the perfect time.
This Saturday at 11 a.m. the shelter will hold an informational meeting for any current volunteers or those interested in finding out how they can help.
"We have hands on things such as walking the dogs, bathing the dogs, playing with the kittens and cats. We also have adoption events at some local stores here in town where we need volunteers to staff those," said Animal Shelter Director Jody Murray.
Any and all volunteers are welcome. The shelter currently has 20 full-time volunteers but due to the needs of the pets, they are always looking for more regardless of how much time they can commit.
"We use a lot of volunteers, some folks volunteer a couple hours a month some come in three or four days a week, we can match up whatever someone's interest is with something that they like to do here," said Murray.
The shelter is located on Newark Road across from the Ohio University-Zanesville campus. The next adoption event will take place in February at Petsmart.
