Gas Prices Up

The only thing gasoline prices have been doing for the past month is going up. The AAA- Auto Club says gas prices are up 50 cents higher than last month at this time.

The state average for a gallon of gas is $3.80. Here in Zanesville it is selling for $3.85. Area drivers think it is crazy.

"It's ridiculous, its ridiculous. It's way too much money to pay for gas. It takes a lot more money just to get to work. Definitely cuts into your pay check," said Ohio Driver Jerry Harper

Harper is not alone, driver Daniel Conrad said, "Oh yeah, I am always spending money on gas, so it's like one of my biggest expenses traveling to Columbus back and forth. I would really like to see them go down."

"It's really hard. I drive from Adamsville to Zanesville everyday. Pretty much i have to fill up, put gas in it everyday, " Jacque Knip said.

AAA explains this rise is due to the seasonal switch from the winter blend to summer grade gas, which is more eco friendly and therefore more expensive, also the price of crude oil has increased and lastly, many mid west refineries are undergoing maintenance causing supply concerns.

Adding insult to injury, there is no break in sight; the higher prices are expected to continue through at least April.
