Casino Night

Big Brothers, Big Sisters is hoping their upcoming fundraiser will increase their number of volunteers.

For the first time the organization is pairing up with Bryan Place to hold a Casino Night on March 16th at the Masonic Temple. The night is open to anyone 21 and up, tickets are 30 dollars per person. Money raised will go towards recruiting, screening and training volunteers to be matched with children.

"Big Brothers, Big Sisters pretty much has a year round need for folks that will serve as bigs or mentors, role models, friends to children. Children in our program are between the ages of six and 18," said B.B.B.S. Executive Director, Mollie Crooks.

Volunteers are asked to spend time with their littles twice a month or in the school based program meet for one hour per week. Currently, there are 60 children who still need to be matched with a big.

"Really those relationships are beneficial we help children build self confidence and also engage them more in their schools and also they do better academically, they do better with behavior and in the long run, they end up being more caring and responsible citizens and adults," said Crooks.

Those interested in volunteering can contact Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

Tickets for Casino Night can be purchased by calling Bryan Place or Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
