Day of Dance

Genesis Healthcare doctors, nurses, nutritionists and other health care professionals were there to offer free health screenings to residents. The event encouraged both men and women to take action to improve their heart health in celebration of Heart Month.

"Most people are asking us on how to control their blood pressure, their cholesterol, their diabetes and how all these things are important in controlling their heart disease," Genesis Cardiovascular Surgeon Dinesh Bhaskaran said.

The "Day of Dance" event had children and adults dancing to promote that staying active can be beneficial and fun. Over 300 people took advantage of the free lipid, blood pressure and body mass index screenings. Zanesville residents were also given advice on how to prevent heart disease.

"Some of the risk factors that can be avoided. And the best example is smoking. Smoking is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease," Genesis Intervention Cardiologist  Abdulhay Albirini said.
