The Zanesville Patriots gathered outside Staley Communications Saturday on Putnam Avenue to discuss their right to bear arms. The Patriots hosted a "bumper-sticker-stick-on" event where those who support them received a free bumper sticker promoting the second amendment.
"What we're doing is we're gathering signatures, and giving out bumper stickers to people who believe in the second amendment," Greg McDonald said.
The Patriots were anticipating about 200 people to attend their event today and hope to gain more members who support their cause. McDonald said the event was organized after President Obama's recent proposals on gun control.
"The people that formed this country did not really do the Second Amendment for the purpose of keeping bad guys out of house, we use it for that. But the reason they put the second amendment together is they came from a country where the government was against them and they wanted to prevent tyranny, so they wanted the citizens to have guns," McDonald said.
