City Council proposed an ordinance to combine about 20-acres of land owned by the City of Zanesville and about eight acres owned by the Port Authority at Monday's City Council Meeting.

"It's had a restriction on it for twenty-three years to be used as a recreational piece of property. The restriction came out in December so we decided with the port authority if we put their small piece of properly with our twenty acres together it will make a prime piece of property for somebody to invest in," said Zanesville Mayor, Jeff Tilton.

The land was donated to the city and is located near the airport in an industrial part of town. Combining both pieces of land will make the property more valuable to potential buyers, rather than selling the land individually.

"If it's passed by Council it will go three readings and thirty days after that I will sign it. Then we will sign an agreement with the Port Authority to promote this and sell it."

City Council will meet two weeks from now for the second reading of the ordinance.
