A Coshocton County Sheriff's Deputy is on administrative leave following a shooting incident, Tuesday night that killed a man.
Coshocton County Sheriff Tim Rogers said it all began when law enforcement from New Concord chased an erratic male driver into Coshocton County. Deputies located the vehicle and began a pursuit. It ended on US 36 near Township Road 509.
"One of my officers was involved in a crash in relationship to the pursuit," said Sheriff Rogers. "He was taken to the hospital, treated and released earlier this morning."
Another deputy shot the suspect. The suspect was taken to Coshocton County Memorial Hospital and then to Grant Medical Center where he died according to the Ohio Attorney General's Office. The incident is now under investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
"We want an outside agency to come in and look at the actions of my officers," said Sheriff Rogers. "I was there within minutes of shots fired, so I have a good understanding of what occurred, but that's something that an outside agency needs to come in and do."
The deputy that fire the shots is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which Sheriff Rogers said is standard procedure. Names of those involved haven't been released at this time.
