A big job fair was held in Cambridge today. It all came together thanks to a collaborative effort between Chambers of Commerce, ten Ohio counties and U.S. Senator Sherrod brown's office.
More than 50 businesses in various fields like healthcare, oil and gas, tourism and transportation participated. They were looking to fill positions in their companies for 2013
Cambridge Chamber of Commerce President Jo Sexton said, "It's all over criteria, the only criteria for participating was that they are going to hire in 2013. There are colleges here, oil and gas companies. Avon is here. There are just a huge diverse group of people participating."
Hundreds of people attended the event and Sexton noted that there was plenty of great conversations between employers and the applicants.
"That they are identifying some really good conversation to identify what the person wants and if it's a good fit but they are taking names and they are going to follow up with people some of the people filling out apps today some are going to go back an make a connection later"
Because today's fair was such a success, plans for future events are in the works.
