At over one hundred feet long and 59 tons moving the Lorena Sternwheeler is no easy task.
As crews from Dingey Movers Incorporated worked to bring the sternwheeler ashore at Riverside Park conditions made it a little rougher than usual.
"Last year we had a little more water which helped," said Captain Bill Page. "We didn't have to pull it up quite as far and we didn't have the wind we have today. It doesn't take much wind to move that boat."
Captain Page said the current made the job tough. Every five years the boat must be dry docked in order to be inspected by the Coast Guard. The inspection is schedulded for Tuesday. The Captain doesn't anticipate many problems.
"I don't expect anything," said Captain Page. "Last time we had quite a bit of work on the haul and I think we're in pretty good shape."
Once inspected the Lorena can be put back in the water, which Captain Page said is easier than bringing her on land and will be ready for the season which begins June 1st.
