The Lorena could spend her summer season on shore.
The sternwheeler was expected back in the Muskingum River May 1 after it was removed last week for a coast guard inspection.
Muskingum County Commissioner Jim Porter said that to run this summer the vessel must have serious work done. The Coast Guard found several areas that need rewelded and a lot of the hull on the sides has to be replaced and that could come at a major expense.
Currently, the county's maintenance facility is getting a firm figure on the projects cost. Commissioner Porter said that they are giving it serious though whether they should put that money into the sternwheeler.
They are also looking into ridership lists from last summer to get a cost analysis for the vessel.
He said if the Lorena is docked he's unsure of what would happen to boat.
