The warm days of spring are finally here but that also means the possibility of severe weather..

Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director, Bo Keck says, the key to dealing with severe weather is to stay alert and prepared.

"Other than that, you still need to be prepared. You need to have a portable radio, flashlight, and a place to go in your house. Or if you live someplace that doesn't have a basement or a small room, a safe place to go in case of a storm"

Keck says it's also important to know the difference between severe weather watches and warnings.

" I think it is real important to discuss the difference between a watch and a warning,” Keck said. A watch, is just what it says it is, it's to watch the weather, watch for a warning. And if a warning is issued, it means either the storm is happening or they know it is going to happen, no doubt "

Keck says every Wednesday at noon, local tornado sirens are tested -- weather permitting.
