One person was killed in an industrial accident in Licking County Friday morning. It happened near Hebron at the Canal Road Bridge over I-70 around 10 a.m. An Ohio Department of Transportation official says a contract worker on a bridge replacement project was struck by a steel beam and died. The Licking County Coroner’s Office identifies the worker as 34-year-old Micah Montgomery of Waverly. O-dot District 5 Deputy Director Joe Rutherford says the accident happened as a crane was being used to move a beam at the work site along I-70 south of Hebron. Rutherford says he is not sure what went wrong. O-dot says the contractor on the project is Double Z Construction of Columbus, which is handling the replacement and widening of two bridges on I-70.
