The Ohio United Way celebrates a major milestone and honors some local volunteers during their celebration.
Each year the Ohio United Way holds a legislative luncheon and this year in celebration of their 100th Anniversary they decided to honor 100 United Way heroes.
Our local United Way nominated three volunteers that made the list including Dean Cole, Cindy Linn and Brian Wagner. Each have served multiple years with the Muskingum, Perry and Morgan organization.
"We could not do what we do without volunteers. Again I know a few other organizations if any that has a volunteer at the head of their major revenue source and their major fundraising campaign every year and we do it," said Executive Director of the Perry, Muskingum and Morgan United Way Meg Deddrick. "We find wonderful community volunteers that steps up to the plate and says yep I'll do that."
Deedrick said the Ohio United Way's work supports what they do locally.
"They want to strengthen the local community and they do help us strengthen our capacity through training, through cost sharing so we can keep administrative costs low. Even though all the money that's raised stays local we have organizations like Ohio United Way and United Way World Wide that helps us strengthen capacity."
Deedrick also received the heroes award for her work as executive director for the past five years. Through her leadership 211 was made available to residents.
