An Ohio Senate Bill sponsored by Republican Senator Troy Balderson, of Zanesville, to help provide funds for job training and workforce development passes the State Senate.

Senate Bill 1 which Balderson sponsored with fellow Republican Bill Beagle authorizes a revolving fund which will provide loans to Ohioans who need additional job training.

The loans will be distributed through public and private colleges, universities and career centers.

Balderson said, "Our dedicated workforce is Ohio's greatest asset. This bill is another piece of the puzzle that connects job seekers with new opportunities right here in the Buckeye State."

The plan ensures priority status is given to schools and career centers that already have close ties with area businesses.

The program will be funded through $25 million in existing revenue from casino license fees.

Each institution can apply for up to $100,000 and loan up to $10,000 per student annually.

The bill now goes to the Ohio House for consideration.
