The Muskingum Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America undertake a huge project.

Fundraising is under way for a $3 million project that will allow the council to build a new resource center at it's current Moorehead Avenue location while making improvements to its campgrounds near Coshocton.

"People want to go a place where they can feel good about scouting," said Executive Director Ed Mulholland. "They come into this building now and its 50 years old. It doesn't meet the needs they deserve."

The new resource center will be handicap accessible, have more storage for supplies and an expanded store. It will also provide for more room for training.

"Scouting just gives our youth such a grounding in leadership skills that without these facilities then our leaders," said Chairman of the Campaign Tom Sieber. "Our adult leaders can't be trained. We can't have the right programming and our camp then will begin to deteriorate, so we need to provide new resources for future scouts."

So, far the Muskingum Valley Council has raised $800,000 for the campaign. Sieber said that it is a 5 year pledge campaign and those interested can contact the council office or the number (740) 607-8508.
