The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Pataskala Police Department will have an OVI checkpoint from 9:00-1:00 a.m. Saturday night on Broad Street in Pataskala.

The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grants and is to deter and intercept impaired drivers and help prevent alcohol related injuries and fatal crashes.

According to the Licking County Sheriff's Office, out of 36 alcohol related crashes, 11 of them were fatal. The Licking County Sheriff's Office is advising people to  designate a driver if you plan on drinking or make other travel arrangements before you drink.
