Remembering Fallen Police Officers

The annual event brought back both good and sad memories to local law enforcement officers who remembered their fellow officers that sacrificed their lives for the safety of the community.

"I started when Lt. Lutz started and he's been gone now tragically for a few years and Deputy Tanner, but there were others and my memory of Lt. Lutz because we started relatively the same time," said Sheriff Michael McCauley of Guernsey County.

Sheriff McCauley says losing an officer is like losing a family member and says law enforcement officers strive everyday to keep the community safe. He even mentioned how they can learn from the recent bombings in Boston.

"Basically not just raising the bar but keeping the bar where it needs to be. The community expects us to do the right thing all the time and today we hopefully impressed upon the need to do the job and do it professionally. "

The event ended with a gun shot salute and a song played on bag pipes
