Muskingum County Court officials met with County Commissioners Thursday to discuss their budget.
Judge Jay Vinsel says that the county courts have implemented different programs that keep them under their annual budget.
" Actually we have a surplus. We turned money back over to the general fund in addition to the programs that we have through our probation department, " Vinsel said.
Judge Vinsel says they utilize a variety of means to bring in revenue for the county courts through their probation department.
" Part of it's collection of probation fees alcohol monitoring, GPS monitoring that we receive money for also the probation department does trash collection and litter pickup, " Vinsel said.
The judge says that they try to do what is best for the citizens of the county and that programs like these stops the courts from having to ask the county for more money.
