This week WHIZ-TV celebrates a major milestone.
Thursday, May 23 will mark 60 years on the air. It all began with a test pattern that went into a local wrestling program. For those that took part in seeing the station rise from the ground up, the experience was unforgettable.
"Kind of exciting," said owner Dorbie Littick. "It worked and we were going to be able to get it. They worked very hard to get everything in place. It was very exciting because back then there weren't many TV stations anywhere."
The station grew over the years always offering local programs from news, to dance shows and reports from the Muskingum County Fair.
"I think it's very important to the community and that the community has accepted us as a strong point," said Littick. "I think anytime you have a voice in the local area, it's very important for the development and for the people recognizing what's here."
Littick said she hopes the next 60 years are just as successful and that it will be exciting to see how technology changes and evolves.
