Guilty to Drug Charges

A man charged in connection with a major drug investigation appeared in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Wednesday.

38-year-old Benjamin Ortiz pleaded guilty to a Prosecutor's Bill of Information on charges of trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs and having a weapon while under disability.

Authorities arrested Ortiz on May 7th at the Sheetz gas station in South Zanesville following months of investigation by the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office and the Zanesville Police Department's drug unit.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of more than $200,000 worth of methamphetamine and marijuana.

Judge Mark Fleegle ordered a pre-sentence investigation in the case.
