The State of Ohio's Attorney General said right now there are 690 children missing in Ohio.
At a balloon launch in honor of National Missing Children's Day, children released balloons for each missing child.
Attorney General Mike DeWine also released the Missing Children Clearinghouse Annual 2012 report. According to the report there were over 19,000 reports of missing children. Of those children 98.8 percent were recovered safely.
DeWine encourages parents to take 25 minutes to talk to their children about staying safe including teaching children how to call 911, walk or drive the route to and from school and point out landmarks and safe places to go, remind children it's okay to say no to anything that makes them feel uncomfortable and practice what if situations.
Saturday May 25 is National Missing Children's Day.
