Zanesville City Schools are wrapping up the 2012-2013 school year this week by cleaning classrooms, returning text books, participating in field days or taking finals,
This Friday is the last day of classes for all schools, with the exception of Zane Grey Elementary, which will continue until next Tuesday due to a water main break the school had this year.
"So other than that, it has been a great, great year we are preparing for next year,” Coordinator of Operations for Zanesville City Schools, Kevin Appleman said. “I know the families and kids don't want to hear that but in about 12 weeks we start back up again."
For students and teachers, the summer is a time for relaxation but for the administrative office this is busy season.
"Yes it is, we get together our school calendar, we also get together what classrooms, and everything that we have to have next year, how many kids are going to have to be in this classroom. Just to get the start of the year to go. We start ordering if we need any new texts and it's just a lot of preparation."
This weekend there are two big events held at the Zanesville High School: in the morning it is Grant's Run and then in the evening at 7:30 pm it is the senior class graduation ceremony.
