Major Increases In Gas Prices

Gas prices are up to $ 3.99  in the days after Memorial Day in Zanesville and across the state.

The economy, wages and different modes of transportation were all accounted for in Wednesday's conversations at the pump. Motorcyclist, Tom Formberg says there are pros and cons to using a motorcycle instead of car during times of high gas prices.

"It is economical to drive, however it is a high expense to keep up because tire wear out much more quickly, so a car is still less expensive than to maintain a motorcycle, " said Formberg.

Michael Rochau works for E.B Brown out of Springfield, Ohio and says higher gas prices are to be expected at this time of year. He says his company might feel the increase.

"As far as our truck the company pays for the diesel. The diesel is actually higher so they pay for that and that's cutting into their business, " said Rochau.

Much like Rochau, Leslie Jones, worker at Fanatics understands the reasons behind the high prices, but says it doesn't make them any easier to live with .

"It makes it hard on the everyday customer because gas prices go up but wages don't, however on business owners they have to charge that to cover their mortgagees, " said Jones.

Prices we saw around town on Wednesday ranged from $3.89 to $3.99.
