A large crowd of people all wearing blue shirts filled Primrose Retirement Center Sunday.
They were all in attendance to support cancer patient, Darlene Ulry to help offset the high cost of medical bills. Her husband, Clyde Ulry works at the retirement home and the Life Enrichment Coordinator, Tammy Grayson says they all support each other at Primrose.
"We're one big family all of the employees and we we are praying today all of the community families will come out help is today," said Grayson.
This is Darlene's third battle with cancer. She has already fought off lymphoma and lung cancer and is now battling ovarian cancer. Employees say she is always positive and never complains. Ulry says she is speechless by the amount of support she's received.
"Words aren't enough its just special to know you have so many friends," said Ulry.
At the benefit Sunday, there was a spaghetti dinner, silent auction, raffle and bake sale to raise money to help pay for some the constantly growing hospital bills. Grayson says over a hundred people and businesses donated items for the event. If you want to help out you can visit Primrose Retirement Center on Northpointe Drive and donate there.
