They're hosting their 50th Annual Father's Day barbecue this Sunday and they're hoping you bring your family to celebrate the holiday with them.
"Dinner starts at 11 O'clock. Dinners are $7 a piece. Meals include half a chicken, applesauce, coleslaw, a bag of Conn's chips and a snowflake dinner roll from Nickel's," said Lt. Tyler Huber of the Falls Twp. Fire Department.
Huber says the fire department usually raises between $2,000-3,000 each Father's Day. This year, they'll be cooking 1,700 chickens, which is up from the usual 1,500 they sell out of. He says the money from the dinner will go towards keeping the department up and running.
"We use them for equipment and things like that. We've used it in the past to buy our boats. We cover quite a bit of water. We've used it for software for EMS purposes in the past to buy the newer, better equipment just to help us do our jobs better."
Firefighters will also be selling raffle tickets for a brand new "fat boy" Harley Davidson at Sunday's dinner. Raffle tickets are $20 a piece and there's only a thousand of them, making your odds of winning pretty good. Huber says since they usually sell out of dinners, the best time to come and eat is between 11:00 a.m. and 1 p.m.
