Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home is having an open house event this Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the location of their new crematory and they're inviting the public to join them.
"We want families to know from the very beginning of the death, all the way through to the final cremation that they never leave us. We're not using a third party provider anymore, it's all us," said Ty Dierkes, Owner of Y-City Crematory and Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home.
Dierkes says there's been a lot of interest from the community to see what the building looks like and how a crematory operates.
"We certainly invite the public to come. I think they'll be pleasantly surprised. I think they'll be good neighbors to our neighborhood down here in putnam and we just invite everyone to come out."
Dierkes says zoning restrictions kept the family from building a crematory where their funeral home is at on Blue Avenue, so they opted for 15 Madison St. just across the river.
