Train Derails In Zanesville

Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director Bo Keck says his office is now investigating a train derailment that happened Thursday morning in Zanesville. Keck says an Ohio Central Railroad train derailed seven coal cars near the Veterans Memorial Bridge around 6 a.m.. There are 54 cars in this train that normally transports coal. There were no injuries reported. Crews are on the scene to correct the situation. Ohio Central Railroad General Manager Len Wagner says the train was traveling north toward Coshocton when the train derailed.  He says the cars should be back on the track by 9 p.m.  Wagner says there is also some damage to the track and that should be repaired by sometime Friday.  The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
