All 19 Cambridge fire fighters responded to the scene of a fire around 11:30 a.m. Friday in downtown Cambridge at 925 Wheeling Ave. But it got so out of control, they called for back up from Byesville, New Concord, Cassell Station and Liberty Fire Departments and closed part of the street.

"It's completely destroyed inside. When we got the call, a woman actually told us a house was on fire, the apartment was on fire. We got here and the whole back corner was already showing fire. So at that point, it's heavily involved in these downtown apartments because they've been remodeled over the years. There's a lot of layers of materials in between here and it gets, you can't find it. It just goes right to the roof and you can't even get to it at the roof line," said Joe Fowler of the Cambridge Fire Department.

Firefighter Andy Barkley of the Cambridge Fire Department says one person was injured in the fire and has been transported to the OSU Medical Center to be treated for burns to the face and hands. The fire eventually spread to nearby buildings.

"My office is right next door and I saw all the fire trucks and just ran to see if it was my building and it wasn't. But the gentleman that lived there is now homeless. Plus, it was Bon Ton Studio which has been in Cambridge for probably over 60 to 70 years," said Margo Johnston, who works in the building next door.

It took crews more than five hours to contain the fire. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
