Somerset Community Celebration

The Village of Somerset hosted its 29th annual Community Celebration on Saturday.

A small group of committee members from the community come together every year to make this event special for the town.

"We started about 8:30 a.m. yesterday morning and we ran until late at night to get ready and well be here today until well after midnight until everything is over. Then well be back tomorrow night to clean everything up," said Celebration Committee Member, Deb Studer.

People in attendance went to a parade that featured Sheridan Highschool, local businesses and decorated tractors. After the community parade, the celebration had a variety of fun activities for children to participate in.

" We have Mark Wade.. he's a ventriloquist. The kids love that and we're getting ready to do the tug -o -war that the fire department does. The kids get out there and get to play tug -o -war over a water spot, " said Studer.

Along with entertainment, there was food, furniture and other oddities for sale. Fundraising for fireworks is the main reason for the event. The committee says the fire works cost more than $20,000 and they come up with all of the money.
