The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency works to supply first responders working on hazmat spills, storm clean-up or any other disaster, with what they need to successfully complete the task. And with the major flooding in Perry County, the Muskingum County EMA helped out our neighboring county.
"We helped supply sandbags to Perry County to protect some of their buildings that they had. We'll just take them down and then they get other people to fill them and put them out. And if Perry County needs more help, we would send personnel down,"said Jeff Jadwin, Deputy Director of the Muskingum County EMA.
Flashlights, batteries and portable radios are always good items to have stocked and ready for when disasters hit.
"Well obviously with the weather that's coming today, there's going to be flooding. There's going to be ya know high winds with this. So people need to understand that don't drive through standing water, don't drive through moving water. That's hazardous and you're not only putting yourself at risk, but the first responders that have got to come and rescue once you're in a bad situation."
Jadwin says the public should seek shelter and be prepared for when Wednesday's storm hits.
