Cleveland Man Dies of Injuries

A 69-year-old Cleveland man succumbs to his injuries after a Monday afternoon accident.

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol said John Deacon Junior was on his way home from a day of sightseeing Monday when the crash occurred.

The Post said that Deacon Jr. was traveling on State Route 93 near Eastpointe Drive around 4 p.m. when his 2007 Harley-Davidson went left of center striking the left side of a southbound 2001 Ford F-250 pickup truck. The truck was driven by 53-year-old Michael Heagen of Zanesville.

Deacon Jr. was ejected from his motorcycle. The Patrol said he was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital and transferred to Grant Medical Center where he passed away.

Heagen was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan where he was treated and released.

The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Washington Township Fire and EMS and Falls Township EMS. The crash remains under investigation.
