The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office and the EPA has opened up an investigation to find out who is dumping computers and TV's in recycling bins across the county.
"It's happened four times this week," said Robert Reiter of the SEO Joint Solid Waste Management District. "These trailers were pulled in and somebody had dumped a significant amount of, actually an overwhelming amount of catheter 8 tubes from computer monitors and televisions inside those recycling trailers."
Reiter says the illegal dumping of the computers and TV's is not only causing them more work, but it can actually put the employees at risk of exposure to lead and cadmium.
"We'd just like it to stop. It's clearly marked on these trailers what we take and what we don't take. We don't take trash and we don't take computer monitors, we don't take computers, we don't take TV's we don't take household garbage. It is strictly for recyclables."
