A 12-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle on Maple Avenue Thursday evening.
According to Zanesville Police Officer Joel Tignor, the female along with another juvenile female, an adult female and adult male were attempting to cross Maple Avenue near Rally's around 6 p.m. this evening. They were standing in the median preparing to cross when the 12-year old bolted into the northbound lanes and was struck by a Ford Expedition.
Officer Tignor says she was transported to Genesis Good Samaritan and then flown to Children's Hospital in Columbus around 8 p.m. this evening.
The driver of the Expedition is not at fault and will not be cited. Northbound lanes near the accident were closed during the investigation. No more details on the incident are being released at this time.
