Motorcycles, food, and games all helped in raising money for American Veterans.
A poker run and bike show was held at the Disabled American Veterans building on Moxahala Avenue. This was the first year for the fundraiser and coordinators say they had no idea that the turnout would be so great.
"We just started going around and talking to different vendors, start talking to different people, we put out flyers, we advertised on the radio, we put it in the paper and a lot of word of mouth, " said Kim Brandfass.
There were more than 100 bikes and even more people present to support the cause. All the proceeds will go towards the VA hospital and Freedom is Yours, an organization that feeds homeless vets.
"They think it's fantastic, with this being our first year they're just amazed at the amount of bikes that we have here," said Brandfass.
There was also a band, 50/50 raffle and contests going on throughout the day. Brandfass says she hopes to raise $ 1,000 and to make this an annual event.
